Sarah Benton
Treasurer & Community Outreach

Sarah Benton grew up in rural Indiana, where she developed a deep connection to nature exploring creeks, fields, and landscapes throughout the White River Basin. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Ecology from the University of Louisville, where she worked in a soil ecology lab and studied solitary bees.

Sarah now lives in southeast Ohio and serves as a Watershed Restoration Project Manager at Rural Action. Her work focuses on watershed restoration, sustainable community development, and the protection of Appalachian biodiversity.

As Treasurer of ECOWICE Foundation, Sarah supports the organization’s financial stewardship and operational structure, helping ensure accountability and sustainability as the Foundation grows. In addition to her financial role, she contributes to community outreach and partnership development, connecting networks in the United States to conservation efforts in Tanzania.

With a strong passion for sustainability, land restoration, and environmental education, Sarah brings both technical expertise and a community-centered perspective to ECOWICE’s mission.

Outside of her professional work, Sarah enjoys foraging, hiking, gardening, and spending time outdoors with her partner and their dog, continuing her lifelong connection with the natural world.
