Sarah Benton
Community Outreach & Partnerships
Sarah Benton grew up in rural Indiana, where she developed a deep connection to nature exploring creeks, fields, and landscapes throughout the White River Basin. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Ecology from the University of Louisville, where she worked in a soil ecology lab and studied solitary bees.
Sarah now lives in southeast Ohio and serves as a Watershed Restoration Project Manager at Rural Action. Her work focuses on watershed restoration, sustainable community development, and the protection of Appalachian biodiversity.
With a strong passion for sustainability, land restoration, and environmental education, Sarah brings valuable experience in community engagement and ecological stewardship to ECOWICE Foundation. She supports outreach efforts, partnership development, and opportunities to connect communities in the United States with conservation initiatives in Tanzania.
Outside of her professional work, Sarah enjoys foraging, hiking, gardening, and spending time outdoors with her partner and their dog, continuing her lifelong connection with the natural world.
“I’ve always felt most connected to the world when I’m outside, whether in a creek, a forest, or a field. Supporting ECOWICE is a way to extend that connection globally, helping communities protect both their livelihoods and the ecosystems they depend on.” Sarah
